Transforming Rotterdam Fotostudio’s website and improving the digital experience through a streamlined, user-friendly design.

Overview

This project involved a complete redesign of Rotterdam Fotostudio’s website and visual identity to enhance usability and brand consistency. By simplifying the customer journey and emphasizing core services, we created an engaging and cohesive digital experience.

Role: UX/UI/Brand Designer & Workshop facilitator

Challenge

Simplifying the process of scheduling shoots and renting the studio space. The challenge was to streamline the customer journey, enhancing user-friendliness while simultaneously making the website more visually appealing and consistent with the brand identity of Rotterdam Fotostudio. This required not only an understanding of the user’s needs but also a clear vision of how to create a seamless and engaging online experience that reflects the studio’s professional and creative atmosphere.

Solution

Focusing on the core services: ecommerce photoshoots and studio rental. The approach involved merging menu items into a clear and concise navigation system, providing limited but essential options to bring the main services to the forefront. By guiding visitors directly to these services within the website, we ensured that users could easily find what they were looking for, increasing the overall efficiency and user satisfaction while maintaining a cohesive and attractive digital presence.

Process

The process involved a structured approach, starting with an interactive session with the client. We refined the information architecture and developed a cohesive visual identity. Each step was carefully designed to align with Rotterdam Fotostudio’s goals, ensuring a user-friendly and visually engaging final result.

UX Session

During the UX session that kicked off the project, we focused on brand positioning, creating user profiles, and setting the project’s direction. We mapped out the user journey and conducted exercises with the client to refine the brand positioning. Personas were developed, user needs were identified, and inspiration was shared to establish a clear course.

The existing website served as the starting point, especially for content. From there, we restructured the information to logically organize it for the studio’s two main target audiences. Key decisions focused on clustering ecommerce services, the studio’s main area of focus. Streamlining and rephrasing content was crucial to enhance clarity and usability.

Designing the brand

Designing the brand

Inspired by “the photographer’s signature,” a concept often seen in the logos of individual photographers, we designed a new logo. Rotterdam Fotostudio’s USP is personalized service, and this concept perfectly aligns with that. The visual style was further developed using a bold color palette to bring the studio’s creativity and diversity to life.

In designing the website, every element was carefully analyzed to present information and interactions in the most user-friendly way. The consistent design, infused with a creative and dynamic twist, perfectly captures the essence of Rotterdam Fotostudio. With numerous iterations, we refined the design into a polished final result that provides the necessary finishing touch.
